Laser Hair Treatment

laser hair removal
What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal involves using ultra-targeted concentrated beams of light to permanently destroy hair follicles. It is a safe method used by thousands of people to stop unwanted hair growth. The side-effects are also minimal, and even then they only last a couple of days.

What are the benefits of laser hair removal?

Well, apart from having silky smooth skin, you will no longer get ingrown hairs, razor burn or irritation. Laser hair removal specifically targets hairs right down at the follicle so it is very precise. Most patients can achieve permanent hair loss within 3 and 7 sessions. Did you know the average woman shaves 7,718 timer in her lifetime. Think all the time you will save, but not just that, you will no longer have to spend money on regular expensive wax treatments, depilatory creams, razors or other methods of hair removal. The cost of the treatments will obviously be higher than waxing treatments, but after 3-7 sessions you will be hair free, and no longer need to top up the treatments. We also offer a very generous discount if you book a course of treatments which reduces the cost to around 50%.

What to expect?

It is important to avoid waxing or plucking of hairs for four to six weeks before treatment. These activities temporarily remove hair follicles and roots, which are the targets during laser treatment. Shaving is acceptable, as it cuts the hairs and leaves hair follicles intact. We recommend that you shave the area 24 hours before treatment, so the laser can more easily locate the follicles.

You may apply a numbing cream before the treatment to reduce any discomfort. Avoid booking your appointment in the week before your period, as sensitivity is heightened at this time.

Before the treatment begins you will be given laser protection glasses to protect your eyes. During the laser process, pulses of light will be given in the treatment area and slight discomfort may be felt. This has been described as a warm pinprick or light rubber band snapping against the skin.

Is it safe?

The majority of people who use it find that laser hair removal is safe and well-tolerated. There do not appear to be any long-term health risks associated with the procedure.

To avoid any side effects we will always do a patch test to see how your skin reacts to the treatment before having it done on a larger area of skin

How long is the recovery period?

Your skin may feel slightly warm and you may notice some redness for few hours afterwards. It has been described as feeling like a mild sunburn, which can be relieved with cold compresses and aloe vera gel. Makeup can be worn the next day if your face was treated.
