What are glabella fillers?
Glabella lines are also known as frown lines. These are vertical lines that appear on your forehead, above the bridge of the nose in between the eyes. These often form the appearance of the number 11 at the edge of the brows. This region of the face is known as the glabellar complex, hence being called the glabella or glabellar lines.

Dermal filler can both relax and smooth the muscles, which helps prevent glabellar lines from worsening.
What are fillers made of?
Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which is a clear gel-like substance that is found naturally in our bodies. It is a sugar-based molecule that is well known for its moisturising and hydrating properties. When injected into the skin, it can help to add volume and give a more youthful appearance.

A face-to-face consultation will be carried out in the clinic, where we will run through what the procedure entails, discuss the results you are looking for and answer any questions you may have. Is it safe?
Dermal filler injections are safe when performed by an experienced injector. Side effects are generally very mild and can include:
-
Swelling and bruising lasting up to two weeks
-
Bleeding at the injection site
-
Pain

For the best results, always follow our aftercare advice.
How long is the recovery period?
The whole process takes around 30 minutes. Ice can be applied afterwards to reduce any swelling.
You should notice results right away, with optimum results seen 5-7 days after treatment once any potential light swelling has ceased.

Dermal filler treatments do not require much downtime. You may wish to take the rest of the day off work so you can assess how much swelling there will be. If you’re concerned about swelling after fillers, consider getting the treatment done on a Friday. Most people can resume their normal activities the next day.

See our aftercare advice at the bottom of this page for more information on how to care for yourself after the procedure.
Will it hurt?
Many patients are under the impression that filler procedures hurt. Those patients will be surprised and happy to hear that dermal filler procedures are very rarely painful. In fact, most patients need only the use of a numbing cream during the procedure.

As well as picking the right person to undertake your treatment, you can help things along by:
-
Not drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment
-
Not taking any anti inflammatory medicines
-
Not taking fish oils or garlic supplements as these can thin your blood
-
Avoid booking your appointment in the week before your period, as sensitivity is heightened at this time
